Farmers have begun harvesting rice planted on 3,860 hectares of salty soil in the Hanting district of Weifang, Shandong province. The rice is grown on salt-affected land and is salt-tolerant.
The yield per mu (0.067 hectares) is 698.4 kilograms, according to field tests carried out by five agricultural experts.
