Thanks to the guidance of a precise brand strategy, Shandong province in East China has made significant progress in the resuscitation of old brands and the development of new brands in recent years.

Brand development has become a critical tool for reviving economic growth and bringing wealth. Brand power is important for high-quality development in the new era.

The Shandong provincial government has played a key role in spearheading efforts to revitalize existing brands and create new name cards in the province. It is believed that brand building will propel sectors to a higher level of sophistication and refinement.

The hard work paid off during the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) period.

A multitude of Shandong brands were spotlighted at the 2021 China Brand Value Evaluation Information Release Conference and China Brand Building Summit Forum held last May.

Weichai Power, Luhua Group, Dong-E-E-Jiao, and Hisense Group shined among the companies that have brands with a value of more than 10 billion yuan ($1.58 billion).

Protected geographical indication (GI) products including Yantai apples, Mengyin peaches, Junan peanuts, and Rizhao green tea were selected into a brand list compiled by the organizers .

Weifang, Zibo, Weihai, Jining, Tai'an, Dongying, and Linyi were named among the top 100 city (prefecture-level city) brands.

Shandong will gradually establish the regional brand "Shandong Good Products", according to the government's plan. It will start with well-known names, then go on to GI items, agricultural brands, and so on. By the end of the year, the first batch will be available.

By 2025, "Shandong Good Products" will be at the forefront of national regional brands in terms of competitiveness, according to the blueprint.
