By utilizing its rich cultural resources, Dongying in East China's Shandong province has beefed up efforts to develop local cultural tourism, bringing tourists as well as additional income to farmers, which helps boost rural vitalization.
Dongying, situated at the estuary of the Yellow River, has a wide range of intangible cultural heritage items, such as Guangrao Qi writing brushes, wheat straw weaving, and Yang's dough modeling. In recent years, the city's cultural and tourism department has explored ways to use these traditional cultural heritage items to benefit the city by cooperating with local schools and enterprises.
Efforts have also been made to promote the research and development of creative cultural products, and many training courses were carried out to promote the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage items. The city also cooperated with e-commence platforms and SF Express to build up its cultural tourism brand and pursue high-quality development.
