The first edition of the event, which took place from July to September last year, has boosted confidence in local economic and trade cooperation between China and Japan amid the COVID-19 pandemic, facilitated the implementation of a number of cooperation projects, and produced extensive economic and social benefits, said Shandong officials.
This year, the event, hosted by the Shandong Provincial People's Government, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Japan External Trade Organization (Jetro), will last until Nov 30.
A series of activities will be held via online and offline channels, including theme seminars, project match-making meetings, the Japan (Shandong) Import Commodities Expo and the Shandong Provincial Capital Economic Circle Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting with Japan.
The event is part of Shandong's efforts to seize the opportunities arising from the signing of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement and explore new room for cooperation with Japan, said local authorities, local authorities said.
The event will help further consolidate the multi-level long-term cooperation mechanism between Shandong and Japanese local governments, business associations, scientific research institutions and enterprises, continue to deepen the local economic and trade cooperation between China and Japan, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and help Shandong become a new beacon of opening up.
