Shandong recently released an implementation plan to build a national model in fostering modern animal husbandry.

According to the plan, the proportion of large-scale breeding in Shandong is expected to reach 88 percent by 2025, while the contribution rate of science and technology in this sector will reach 70 percent, and the rate of intensive and deep processing of livestock products will reach 40 percent. The modernization of animal husbandry will be basically achieved by 2030 in Shandong.

"Shandong is a powerhouse in animal husbandry, with its main economic indicators being at the forefront of the country for many years. It has accumulated a strong industrial foundation and still has the advantage of leading the country in the new journey of modernization," said Tang Jianjun, director of the Shandong Provincial Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Bureau.

The province will focus on the construction of: an optimized, intensive, and efficient modern breeding system; a well-organized, accurate, and efficient animal epidemic prevention system; a high-end and efficient processing and circulation system; a safe and efficient feed and veterinary drug system; as well as a standardized, convenient, and efficient supervision and service system.
