Beihai Saltpan is located in Binzhou, northernmost Shandong province. The seemingly endless saltpan is a magical place, forming a natural feature in Bohai Bay. There is one of the largest sea salt production plants in China at the salt pan. The salt-making process has been constantly improved in Beihai, which has not only reduced the impact on the environment, but also realized multiple uses for the seawater, enriching the city’s marine industry. In addition, the saltpan shrimp is a specialty of Binzhou, making this place known as "the hometown of eco-saltpan shrimp in China".
