Established in 2000, Qingdao Tong’an Road Primary School was the first juvenile marine school in Shandong province. The school was chosen as the experiment school of the Chinese Society for Oceanography, and as the First Institute of Oceanography of the State Oceanic Administration in 2011. 

With a goal of popularizing marine knowledge, the school teaches ocean-related materials on a daily basis, which has become its distinguishing feature.
