Public speaking is a platform for sharing ideas and communication, said Zang Yingjie, winner and the most promising speaker of the 23rd China Daily "21st Century Coca-Cola Cup" National English Speaking Competition in 2018.
Zang, aged 20, is a physics student from Qufu Normal University from East China's Shandong province, who represented China for the annual International Public Speaking Competition in London after securing the national title in April, 2018.
He believes that as a Chinese, "we should strive to spread our ideas and make our voices heard in a bigger world".
Centering on the "New Era: China and the World", Zang impressed judges with his humorous and interesting style of speech and shared his stories about life and death in the impromptu speech.
He noted that the process always matters more than the final results. "I went over and over my draft from regional trials to national finals, and I have learned a lot from many friends and teachers," he said.
