Top 10 prairies you shouldn't miss in Inner Mongolia

No 8 Huitengxile Prairie | 辉腾锡勒

Situated in the central and southern part of the Qahar Right Wing Middle Banner, Huitengxile Prairie is a national 4A-level scenic spot which is 135 kilometers away from Hohhot and 75 kilometers from Ulaanqab (Ulanqab).

The grassland is one of the most well-preserved alpine meadows in the world, with an average elevation of 2,100 meters and an area of 600 square kilometers. Its vegetation coverage rate is 80 percent to 95 percent. 

Huitengxile, meaning "chilly hill" in Mongolian, is a destination to escape summer heat with its average temperature being 18 C.

The scenic area boasts green mountains and clear lakes. Every May through September, Hutengxile becomes the sea of flowers. Visitors can enjoy their stay here riding on horseback or camel, archery, watching wrestling, tasting local food, and joining in singing and dancing in the open air.
