Divided into four teams, they visited eight provincial regions, including Shaanxi province and Shanghai municipality. The NPC Standing Committee also entrusted legislatures in other regions to inspect local enforcement of the law.

The inspection report recognized the distinctive progress that has been made in the implementation of the law, improvement of support regulations, strengthened administrative enforcement and judicial guarantees, and an increasing awareness of rubbish sorting. The report also identified problems in some regions, such as gaps in domestic waste sorting, advice and recommendations were offered as well.

Solid waste is a major source of pollution in the atmosphere, water and soil. Inspections by the top legislature will help promote pollution prevention and control, improve the environment and create greater benefits for people.
