DOHA -- A senior official has called for cooperation from parliaments of all countries to promote peace and development.
Shen Yueyue, vice chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China, made the remarks during the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Qatar's capital Doha on Monday.
"Parliaments from all countries should make contribution to removing misunderstanding, solving problems and promoting development," Shen said.

Peace and development are the original aspiration and unremitting pursuit of the IPU, Shen said.

Delegations from more than 160 countries attended the assembly, which started last Saturday.
