BEIJING -- Top legislator Li Zhanshu on Wednesday met with Samdech Say Chhum, president of Cambodia's senate, vowing to further advance bilateral ties.

Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said China believes all countries should treat each other on the basis of equality and mutual respect, regardless of their size, strength and wealth.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of China-Cambodia diplomatic ties. Relations with Cambodia have set a typical example of China's neighborhood diplomacy of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, he stressed.

Li said China will continue to support Cambodian people in choosing their development path that is fitting with national conditions and to beef up collaboration on Belt and Road construction, agriculture and infrastructure.

China stands ready to assist Cambodia in stability, development and improvement of people's livelihoods, the top legislator added.

Li also expressed his hope to push forward exchanges between the Chinese NPC and Cambodian Senate and National Assembly, so as to strengthen bilateral relations.

For Samdech Say Chhum's part, he said Cambodia views China as a true friend and good brother and is ready to witness more cooperation outcomes.
