Chinese mainland reports 80 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases

BEIJING — The Chinese mainland on Dec 2 reported 80 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases, the National Health Commission said in its daily report on Dec 3.

Of the new local cases, 56 were reported in Inner Mongolia and 10 in Heilongjiang.

Also reported were 16 new imported cases in five provincial-level regions, according to the commission.

Three new suspected cases arriving from outside the mainland were reported in Shanghai and no new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on Dec 2, it added.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on the mainland had reached 98,993 by Dec 2, including 972 patients still receiving treatment, of whom 10 were in severe condition.

A total of 93,385 patients had been discharged from hospitals on the mainland, and 4,636 had died as a result of the virus.

A total of 24 asymptomatic cases were newly reported on Dec 2, of whom 14 were from outside the mainland.
