Jiao Hong meets with MHLW delegation

Jiao Hong, Commissioner of National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), met with a Japanese delegation led by Yasuhiro Suzuki, Chief Medical & Global Health Officer of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan (MHLW) on July 2, 2019. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation between China and Japan in the field of pharmaceutical and medical device supervision.

Jiao introduced the regulatory reform and development in China, and said that strengthening regulatory exchanges and cooperation between China and Japan will help to safeguard the health and well-being of the two peoples and accelerate exchanges and development of the industries.

Yasuhiro Suzuki congratulated Jiao on the progress made in China's drug regulatory reform, adding that he hopes that the Chinese and Japanese drug regulatory authorities will continue to carry out effective and mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.

The Chief Executive of the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA), officials from the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and the Japan Association for the Advancement of Medical Equipment (JAAME) attended the meeting. Directors from relevant NMPA departments and its affiliated institutions and Japanese industry representatives were also present.
