Nantong national high-tech zone boosts development of high-tech industry
The high-tech industrial output of the Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone in the first quarter of 2023 accounted for over 70 percent of the zone's total output, an increase of 10 percentage points year-on-year, according to the local authorities.
This achievement was made possible by the zone's efforts in driving innovation in recent years.
Local authorities had in 2022 launched a policy that provides extra subsidies to local enterprises that contribute to solving technical difficulties in specific areas.
Last year, local high-tech enterprises that helped enhance the zone's innovation development were rewarded with 150 million yuan ($217,884), said Chen Weihong, an officer of the zone's science and technology bureau.
In addition, the zone has been helping boost the innovation capability of enterprises by facilitating cooperation between them and universities.
Among the local enterprises that have cooperated with universities is Jiangsu Revzone Rail Transportation Equipment Co Ltd.
The company's cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University has helped upgrade the technology behind its product, said Dai Qihong, a company representative.
According to Qi, this cooperation was made possible by the partnership platforms provided by the zone.
In March, a promotional event for the zone's technical environment was held in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province. The event was attended by representatives of Nantong's enterprises as well as experts and technical talents from Xi'an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xidian University, and Xi'an Thermal Power Research Institute Co Ltd.
The promotional event saw the signing of four cooperative projects between Nantong enterprises and universities or institutes in Xi'an.
