Chongchuan bolsters employment for people with disabilities

Authorities in the Chongchuan Economic Development Zone in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, have over the past few years been ramping up efforts to provide more jobs for local residents with disabilities.
For example, the local authorities have established a sound assistance system where professional staff members offer customized jobs based on the specific physical conditions and interests of people with disabilities.
The job positions on offer include handicraft production, grape-picking and planting vegetables.
The zone has also used digital technologies to help people with disabilities increase their incomes.
Authorities have this year conducted six online training courses that taught such individuals advanced planting skills. More than 200 people attended such courses.
Authorities have also opened online sales platforms to expand the sales channels of agricultural products.
Creating more job opportunities for people with disabilities is part of efforts by local authorities to achieve common prosperity.
In addition, authorities have launched seven comprehensive service platforms to provide services such as rehabilitation and art performances to care for the physical and mental health of disadvantaged individuals.
