The recent completion of the second phase of 5G network construction in Chongchuan district, the main urban area of Nantong, means the district has more than 560 5G base stations and continuous 5G coverage.
As the latest data show, Chongchuan has had more than 150,000 China Mobile 5G users since 5G was commercialized one year ago. The number is predicted to grow to 250,000 by the end of 2020.
"Now, Chongchuan is covered with the 5G network," said a citizen surnamed Li engaged in the insurance industry. "I changed to a 5G mobile phone; it's convenient to transfer videos and files with 5G."
By virtue of 5G's features of low latency and large bandwidth, Chongchuan branch of China Mobile has proposed intelligent monitoring of illegal parking via 5G on streets with heavy traffic such as Hongqiao Road.
Different from the previous situation where there was a certain delay between the collection of information and the command center receiving the information, now the command center can receive almost real-time situations of illegal parking with "zero time difference", and can quickly unblock congestion.
5G is also contributing to epidemic prevention and control in back-to-work and back-to-school situations. With low latency and high reliability, 5G video communication helps Chongchuan's government departments and enterprises arrange their production and work in a non-contact way, ensuring people's security and health.
5G thermal imaging equipment is installed in the primary and secondary schools of Chongchuan district. The equipment adopts non-contact high-efficiency temperature measurement and control technology, which is not interfered with by factors such as atmospheric temperature. It can monitor densely populated public places, quickly identify people with higher body temperatures and issue alarms.
