Two paintings by Wei Jin, an artist born in Nantong, Jiangsu province, have recently been showcased at two national exhibitions.
The two displayed pieces depict farmers' harvest and the food of Chinese armies, respectively.
Wei is currently a full-time painter at the Nantong Calligraphy and Painting Academy and the deputy director of the Figure Painting Studio.
The 35-year-old delves deeply into traditional painting, and his works represent a reinterpretation and recreation of nature and life. His depictions of people from different eras, ethnic groups, ages, and genders are vivid and reliable, with figures appearing secluded from worldly affairs, profound and mysterious.
Through his painting journey, Wei has not only appreciated the traditional artistic spirit of the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties (c.11th century-907) but also accumulated life experiences of the northwestern Loess Plateau.
His depictions of figures, fruits, vegetables, landscapes, and other subjects exhibit a simple and authentic style, indicating his malleable artistic potential.
The exhibitions where two of Wei's works are selected are hosted by the China Artists Association, the Publicity Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles.
