A flight operated by VietJet Air took off at 4 pm from Nantong Xingdong International Airport on Feb 2, marking the resumption of the flight between Nantong and Nha Trang in Vietnam.
It is the first international flight that the Nantong airport has resumed after the three-year pandemic.
Due to the popularity of outbound tourism during the Spring Festival holiday, which runs from Feb 10 to 17, the first flight between the two cities was fully occupied, and the occupancy rate of ensuing flights have also exceeded 90 percent.
The coastal city of Nha Trang has earned an international reputation for its pristine beaches and favorable environment for diving, with its Nha Trang Bay being recognized as one of the world's most beautiful bays.
Nantong residents have showed strong interest in the tourism route to Nha Trang, with the first flight being fully booked in fewer than 30 days, according to Wei Jingjing, head of the Zhonglian travel agency, which chartered the first flight.
The Nantong airport also plans to resume flights to Seoul, South Korea in early April and to Osaka, Japan in early June, as well as some Southeast Asian flights later this year.
