Rugao becomes high-speed rail tourist destination in YRD

Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, was recently among the second batch of high-speed rail tourist destinations in the Yangtze River Delta.

The evaluation was conducted by of the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, as well as the departments of culture and tourism of Shanghai, Zhejiang and Anhui.

A total of nine cities in Jiangsu province were nominated as high-speed rail tourist destinations in the Yangtze River Delta.

The high-speed railway stations Rugao Station and Rugao South Station make it easier for people in the Yangtze River Delta to tour Rugao.

Rugao has a history of more than 1,600 years and is the earliest recorded ancient city in the Yangtze River Delta.

The inner and outer moats surrounding the city are a unique aspect of China's urban construction throughout history.

The city now enjoys a reputation as "Jiangsu's Famous Historical and Cultural City" and "China's Capital of Bonsai", and is renowned for the longevity of its residents.
