The signing ceremony of a modern agricultural demonstration base, which will be located in Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, was held at the Jiangsu Yanjiang Institute of Agricultural Sciences on Nov 29.

The demonstration base will cover an area of 288 mu (19.2 hectares). The project's first phase, which is backed by an investment of 8.6 million yuan ($1.22 million), will involve the rebuilding of high-standard farmlands and the establishment of infrastructure.

Following its establishment, the base will become the largest modern agriculture base in the city. It will integrate agricultural scientific research, demonstration and promotion, and science education.
