The container terminals in the Lyusi Qibu port area of Tongzhou Bay in Qidong, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, started operating on Oct 26.
The No 8 and 9 berths were the first two modern 100,000-metric-ton container terminals built in the Lyusi Qibu port area. They have a designed annual handling capacity of 1.4 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).
In addition, the two container terminals make use of advanced technologies such as 5G, Beidou, Internet of Things, and remote operation, increasing the automation of port operations and intelligent production management.
The container terminal also offers river-sea intermodal transportation. Goods can enter the international logistics system after being transported by river and sea once and can reach the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River directly.
The Qibu port area, located north of the Shanghai International Shipping Center, will also help the shipping center improve international logistic handling efficiency after opening.
