Liuxiahe area begins crab harvest
Lixiahe area in Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has recently entered harvest season for crabs, local media reported.
Official statistics show that the number of crabs in the area this year decreased slightly compared to previous years due to the high temperature. However, the size of the crabs is bigger and the quality is excellent.
On the Yongsheng family farm located in Nanmo town, the 160-mu (10.67 hectares) of crab ponds can produce 20 to 25 kilograms of crabs each day.
The female crab has developed to a mature state, and the largest one weighed 250 grams. The yield per mu is expected to reach more than 8,000 yuan ($1,111), said Jiang Jinjun, head of the Yongsheng family farm.
