To better prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Nantong, two museums in the city have changed their hours starting Feb 16, local media reported.

The China Abacus Museum and Chinese Charity Museum will receive visitors from 9 am to 4:30 pm, and the number of visitors to the two museums will be capped at 50 percent of their maximum capacity.

Visitors are required to have their temperatures checked, present their ID cards, green health QR codes and travel codes, and wear face masks before entering the museum at the northern entrance.

Visitors with yellow or red health codes are not allowed to enter the museum. Those with an asterisk in their green health QR code are advised not to visit the museum and if they must visit, they are required to show negative nucleic acid test results from within 48 hours.

The China Abacus Museum is the largest abacus-themed museum in the world and exhibits more than 2,000 abacuses from around the world while the Chinese Charity Museum, transformed from the former site of the Dasheng Cotton Mill, has more than 3,000 items involving ancient books, wood carvings, and inscriptions.

On Feb 15, Nantong reported one positive case. The case has been preliminarily determined as related to the outbreak in Suzhou where 35 confirmed cases and seven asymptomatic cases had been reported as of Feb 16.
