The first Local Sage Conference of Hai'an and the 2021 Qingdun cultural art festival were held on Sept 20 in the county-level city of Hai'an, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

Elites from various industries and fields were invited to attend the event and explore the city's future development trajectory.

Wang Xiaohong, director of the united front work department of the CPC Nantong municipal committee, delivered a keynote speech in which she stated that the Hai'an local sage conference was conducive to concentrating the power of local talent and contributing to the city's modernization, and served as a role model for other regions in Nantong.

Wang expressed hope that more local elites would commit themselves to the modern development of Nantong and create a brighter future for Hai'an.

Yu Lizhong, Party secretary of Hai'an, said that it was the joint efforts of Hai'an locals that turned the city from a remote county into a provincial traffic hub, and from a less developed region into a leader of high-quality development in Nantong.

Hai'an will continuously implement its strategy of strengthening itself through talent and strive to attract more high-level professionals to showcase their talent, achieve success in business, and realize their dreams in Hai'an, Yu added.

The Hai'an Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (Hai'an) Collaborative Innovation Center were established during the conference, and the Macao-Hai'an cultural fair was launched as well.
