Activities at Nantong museums for August
A total of 49 activities, including four exhibitions and 45 educational activities, will be held at museums across Nantong city in August to provide children with an enriching summer vacation, according to the Nantong bureau of culture, broadcasting, television and tourism.
The exhibitions will feature Chinese jade culture at Nantong Museum, Chinese abacus culture at China Abacus Museum, posters of cultural relics at the Chinese Charity Museum and tapestries at the Rugao Silk Carpet Art Museum.
Nantong Museum, Rugao Museum, Haimen Zhangjian Memorial Hall and Jiangsu Jianghai Museum will also hold training courses and competitions for volunteers.

Nantong Museum:
Classes on meteorology, waste sorting, fire prevention, textile development in China and Nantong, microscopes, plants and Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine's Day) customs.
Nantong Textile Museum:
DIY activities involving cotton, blue calico, wax printing of Miao ethnic group, and the Qixi Festival.
China Abacus Museum:
Parent-child activities, lectures, trainings and summer camps on Chinese abacus culture.
Shen's Embroidery Museum:
Embroidery workshops
Rugao Museum:
DIY workshops, displays of hanfu (traditional Han costumes), and lectures on muxuan, an ancient woodworking technique.
Jiangsu Jianghai Museum:
Activities marking Liqiu (Start of Autumn), the 13th solar term in Chinese lunar calendar, and the Qixi Festival, exhibitions of insects, and lectures about fine arts.
