An abacus cultural exhibition opened in Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, on June 13, Cultural and Natural Heritage Day. This is part of a touring exhibition related to cultural relics and was developed by the China Nantong Abacus Museum.

Nearly 150 abacus-related cultural relics were on display at the exhibition, showcasing the history of abacuses, the interaction of abacuses and technology, as well as the interaction of abacuses and culture.

Children were fascinated to learn that China's first Yangtze River bridge, first hydrogen bomb, and first nuclear-powered submarine were built using abacuses.

Wang Haiming, deputy curator of China Nantong Abacus Museum, expressed hope that the cultural relics presented at the touring exhibition can lead people to learn more about the history of China.

An array of educational activities are also being promoted during the exhibition. Children can participate in family activities which teach them in detail about abacuses.

According to the organizers, the exhibition will be held until July 8 at Hai'an museum and will later be launched at nine other museums around the Yangtze River Delta region.
