An aqua park began construction at the Xiaoyangkou tourist resort in Rudong county, Nantong last year and is expected to start operating in October.

Costing about 300 million yuan ($42.12 million) and covering an area of 18, 500 square meters, the park is expected to become a tourist attraction featuring local hot springs, seafood, sightseeing, cultural experiences, and leisure facilities.

The main attraction of the park is a ferris wheel made in Germany. It is 24 meters tall and 2.7 m in diameter and the highest speed can reach 40 kilometers per hour. It is the second of its kind in China and considered one of the most advanced ferris wheels in the world.

According to one of the park’s engineers, German workers will be dispatched to help local workers operate the entertainment facilities for a period of time.

The Xiaoyangkou tourist resort was named “China’s home of hot springs” in 2019 and it quickly began taking advantage of this title in an effort to attract more tourists from around the country.

The park will be open to the public throughout the year and is expected to attract around 2 million visitors per year after it begins operating.
