The last box girder for Hai'an Grand Bridge was placed on a pier on March 7, marking the completion of the erection of the box girders on the Yancheng-Nantong Railway. This section of the railway in Hai'an, Nantong, was completed one week ahead of schedule.

During the COVID-19 outbreak, workers have been dedicated to working against time to complete the project. The early completion of box girder erection will help the railway open to traffic on schedule. The construction of the ballastless track along the railway is expected to start soon.

The Yancheng-Nantong Railway is 159 kilometers long, with a designed speed up to 350 km per hour. The railway is planned to be completed and open to traffic by the end of 2020.

A new type of box girder was used on the railway, making it the first with such a designed speed to use the news system. The successful application provides practical experience in railway construction in China and showcases the country's capacity for technological innovation.

After construction, the railway will be included in the national coastal railway network. Residents in north Jiangsu province and surrounding areas will be able to get to Shanghai, and Zhejiang and Shandong provinces more conveniently and quickly.
