Construction of 123 major projects, worth over 100 million yuan ($14.27 million) each, started at the same time in Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on Feb 28.

The projects include 111 industrial ones and 12 in the service sector. Among them, 18 projects are valued at over 1 billion yuan. The total investment in the projects is expected to be about 37 billion yuan.

Some of the projects, involving polarizers and new energy products, will serve as new drivers in Hai'an's industrial development.

Amer International Group, a Fortune Global 500 company, has invested in the polarizer project, which is expected to complete its first phase in September.

Hai'an Hengke Innovation City's project, covering a building area of 800,000 square meters, is the first urban industrial complex in the county-level city.

Most of the projects are involved in 10 major industries, such as new materials, equipment manufacturing, modern architecture, textiles, automobiles, energy-saving technology and electronic information.

Around 90 percent of the major projects will operate in key industrial parks in Hai'an. The gathering of the projects is hoped to further promote the development of Hai'an.

In 2019, construction started on 115 projects, worth over 100 million yuan each, with 28 valued at more than 1 billion yuan. Five of the projects were listed as provincial major projects, and 26 won municipal honors, with the number ranking top in the city.
