Haimen, Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, will develop a robot-themed town to boost its robotics industry. An agreement was signed by the people’s government of Zhengyu town and Haimen City Development Group on Aug 10, according to local media.

The robot-themed town, covering an area of 3.45 square kilometers, will be located in Zhengyu town. It will house three leading producers of industrial robots, construction equipment, and high-end auto parts.

The town will revolve mainly around robotics R&D and manufacturing, but will also sell robots, provide robot-related services, and develop robot applications.

It is expected to feature a national robot testing center, a national scientific and technological innovation industrialization center, a national artificial intelligence center, a permanent meeting site for robot development forums, and a national robot training center.

The town is expected to be completed within five years, and a total of around 1 billion yuan ($14.16 million) is expected to be invested in the project.
