Huilong, a small town in Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China’s Jiangsu province, is currently enjoying the spotlight after a local media organization recently reported it had received an honor to celebrate its contribution to the region.

Around 300 years ago, Huilong was a desolate beach on an estuary of the Yangtze River. But today, the town is a gleaming modern city with a booming economy and modern infrastructure.

Local residents now have access to high-quality public services provided by the local government, including healthcare, education, transportation and social security.

The town has received the honor from Nantong for six consecutive years, recognizing its efforts to help develop a dynamic economy and increase prosperity for the region.

In 2015, the town was recognized for its cultural services. And in 2016 and 2017, Huilong made it onto the list of China’s top 1,000 towns, ranking 193rd in 2016, and 191st in 2017.
