Nantong is the hometown of textiles, well-known nationwide and boasting a long history and extensive industry base. In 2017, Nantong’s high-end textile industry achieved an output value of 227 billion yuan ($33.55 billion).
Nantong is the biggest home textile industry base in China and has developed a coordinated process integrating textile fabrics, pattern design and finished product processing. Nantong is also one of the top 10 clothing export bases, with export volume accounting for nearly five percent of the national gross in the textile field.
Nantong is an important base of domestic cocoon silk production and export, and is listed as a national key silk city. A sound and complete production system covering reeling silk, silk spinning, silk fabric and clothing has been established. Big production groups have national pioneer intelligent production lines with a complete flow scheme of cotton spinning, and own many Chinese top brands. Lianfa Textile has been in the list of “national top ten of yarn dye industries” for successive years, and its “high-counts combed cotton yarn” has been evaluated as a “world-leading level” product by the China National Textile and Apparel Council. Luolai home textile has been named among the “top 500 most valuable brands in China” and the “top 10 Chinese textile product brands”. The Violet brand of home textiles has been listed as a “key self-owned brand clothing and home textile enterprise for follow-up development in China”. Xinyuan Group is a “national key pilot demonstration unit of circular economy”, and Sixiang Sichou has won the “Shanghai World Expo Silk Quilt Sole Quality Award” and twice been given the golden innovation award at the national level. FeeCerise, the leading brand of Xinyi Clothing, has been designated a “China famous trade mark”, while Solamoda Garments has been evaluated as a “top 25 export female clothing of China” company for two consecutive years.
