The Large Aircraft Industrial Park is located in the southern part of Pudong International Airport, inside the Lin-gang Special Area of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone – in East China's Shanghai city.

The industrial park occupies a site covering 24.7 square kilometers, of which 7.86 sq km is in the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd or COMAC, the Shanghai Airport Authority and Lingang Group are the three partners behind the initiative. They are pooling their resources and building this facility at the southern part of Pudong International Airport - with a goal to develop a world-class cluster for the aviation industry, benefitting the park and also for the entire city.

Industrial features:

The official positioning of the Large Aircraft Industrial Park is to develop "large aircraft in a transport hub, a cradle of innovation and in a free port". It enjoys all the advantages of the Lin-gang Special Area and the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone - and is seeking to attract the "crown jewels" of the big aircraft industry, to become an international air hub.

The park is building a platform for the development, innovation, production, influence and attraction of the aviation industry.

It is pivoting to attract high-end businesses in aviation R&D, manufacturing, operations, maintenance and services. It aims to help resident companies to serve national strategies, realize their own upgrades and transformation, increase brand value and expand their first-mover competitive edge in markets – while growing a cluster of Chinese suppliers for commercial aircraft and ensuring the safety of the aviation industry supply chain.

Industry ecosystem:

Several policies have been announced in the Lin-gang Special Area to promote the cluster development of the aviation and aerospace industry in the area – as well as helpful customs initiatives in the Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone.

The Large Aircraft Industrial Park is seen to be a promoter of industrial development and a constructor of urban renovation. By aligning innovation chains side by side with industrial chains, it is expected to promote their integration and collaboration. The result, it is hoped, will be a first-rate aviation park with industrial clusters, free trade, smart capacity and city-industry integration.
