As a new strategic center for the international aviation industry, the Lin-gang Special Area – located in East China's city of Shanghai – is reportedly seeing its economic output from its world-class aerospace sector growing rapidly and consistently.

Plans are for it to build a number of research and innovation platforms. These will be for key technologies and the core parts of civil aviation. They will be functional platforms for the research and technology transfer of avionics and aircraft engines, as well as testing and validation platforms for the new materials and products for civil aircraft.

Moving forwards, the Lin-gang Special Area's world-class capacity for sci-tech innovation in the field is expected to be enhanced continuously.

As first-rate multinational companies in research, manufacturing and logistics come to the Lin-gang Special Area, other companies – moving in their regional headquarters, as well as bringing in top talent such as researchers, engineers and highly skilled workers – are also seen flocking to Lin-gang.

It is widely viewed that their presence is injecting new impetus into the development of the aerospace and aeronautics industries there, providing strong support and assurance to the aviation industrial base.
