Lin-gang Special Area establishes typhoon research center

The Asia-Pacific Typhoon Collaborative Research Center was established in the Lin-gang Special Area of East China's Shanghai on Dec 1.
As the only international professional typhoon research institute in the world, the center mainly conducts research on key technologies related to typhoon forecasting and typhoon prevention and disaster relief.
It will focus on typhoon numerical predictions and key technologies in related fields, scientific typhoon observation experiment and big data analysis technology, and multi-scale typhoon mechanisms.
An official from the World Meteorological Organization vowed that they will provide assistance and support to the center.
It is believed that the center will attract top-flight research talent from around the world – leading the development of an international typhoon science program and establishing a scientific and technological system for typhoon prevention and disaster relief in the Asia-Pacific region.
