A freighter carrying goods departed from Taizhou Port in Taizhou, Jiangsu province toward Yangshan Port in Shanghai on Sept 15, marking the beginning of daily direct routes between the two ports.

The original route between Taizhou Port and Yangshan Port required ships to stop at several ports such as the one in Zhangjianggang, Nantong Port, and Taichang Port, which usually took seven days. The new direct route has no stops and reduces travel time by about half.

In addition, there is now a ship to Shanghai that operates every working day, drastically reducing wait times

The new route, supported by Shanghai Port, was upgraded by Taizhou International Container Terminal Co Ltd, Shanghai Puhai Shipping Co Ltd, a subsidiary of China COSCO Shipping Co Ltd, and China Ocean Shipping Agency Shanghai Co Ltd.
