Zhao Dacheng, vice-minister of justice, said the judicial administrative departments should study and implement Opinions on Improving the Legal Aid System, a document issued on June 24 by the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council.

Zhao made the remarks at a training session on the opinions that opened in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province on October 27.

The opinion document was a major step in implementing the CPC Central Committee's strategy of promoting the rule of law and improving the legal aid system, said Zhao.

He said it is a development of the State Council's Regulation on Legal Aid as well as other relevant policies and regulations and is a platform to strengthen the legal aid system in the new situation.
