Xizhang Park located in Wuxi's Huishan district opened on July 8 and will provide local residents with a new place for recreation and exercise.
The park, which stands adjacent to the Xibei Canal, covers an area of 42 hectares and features traditional Jiangnan-style architecture, i.e. south of the Yangtze River, and beautiful scenery.
The area has long been known as a silkworm cultivation base in the Jiangnan area and the park has been built to include a silkworm museum and a mulberry farm, which will offer visitors the chance to learn about the development of the local silkworm industry and the whole process of silk production.
Additionally, the park includes a culture gallery showcasing local ship-making craftsmanship. It is hoped the public space will become a center for cultural experience, sightseeing, recreation and exercise.
