The garden was built on Dongshan Mountain in 1912 by Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng, brothers who were both national industrialists and businessmen. Covering the area with thousands of plum trees, the garden was named Plum Garden.
Here, plum trees are planted to beautify the mountain, while the mountain provides good environments for the growing of the plum trees. There are more than 4,000 plum trees grown in the land, covering a total species of 40.

Nianqu Tower
The Nianqu Tower is the landmark of Plum Garden. It was built by Rong Zongjing and Rong Desheng to commemorate their mother and express their gratitude for their parents. You may have a full view of the garden and Taihu Lake on the tower.

Huaxi Scenic Area has more than 100 kinds of plants as well as huge stone landscape. It shows perfect integration of the Oriental and Western environmental arts.
