The Xuzhuang subdistrict in the Taizhou Port Economic Development Zone – located in Taizhou city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is really boosting community spirit through its renewed efforts, with a special focus on the elderly and children.
Recent initiatives aim to foster a caring environment that bolsters the happiness and satisfaction of locals.
On Aug 16, more than 30 left-behind children and those facing challenging circumstances participated in a special summer program.
The event included visits to the Huangqiao Battle Memorial Hall and the Former Residence of Ding Wenjiang, a renowned Chinese geologist and social activist, along with hands-on traditional pastry-making activities. They were designed to lift their spirits and instill a sense of cultural pride and national identity in the youngsters.
Earlier, on Aug 15, the Qiaoyang Community partnered with the Zhangqin Eye Hospital to offer free eye screenings, and educate residents about common eye diseases and preventive care.
In another initiative, volunteers from the Zhaowang community launched a support campaign for elderly residents living alone – providing essential services such as house cleaning and haircuts to ensure they feel cared for and valued.
Looking ahead, Xuzhuang subdistrict plans to continue prioritizing the needs of its elderly and young people, enhancing community life through targeted support initiatives.
