Traditional rattan furniture manufacturer Taizhou Yuanda Furniture, located in the Taixing Economic Development Zone, Taixing city, Jiangsu province, has succeeded in delivering anime and cartoon products in just over three months.
It's a new track the company has never tried before and was in response to a clear and pressing need. Impacted by the international economic situation, orders for Yuanda Furniture collapsed by half in 2023, pushing it to seek out new opportunities.
"Fortunately, we obtained information that US company SVI was looking for Chinese enterprises that could mass produce anime and cartoons," said Li Yang, chairman of the company.
"Although we had nothing at the time, we decided to innovate, change and achieve this," Li added.
After signing the order in October last year, Yuanda transformed a workshop, covering an area of nearly 60,000 square meters, into producing anime and cartoon products.
The company also set up a laboratory dedicated to testing the performance of anime products, a facility that is currently not available in the rest of the country.

Li said that the company had overcome difficulties of funds, technology, factory buildings, equipment and more and couldn't have done so without the support of local government departments.
Li added that Yuanda had now transformed from an outsider to a semi expert in the field of anime and cartoon products.
The four production supervision advisors dispatched by SVI said the group now has 17 cooperative manufacturers in China, with Yuanda currently being the largest, most technologically advanced and most professional enterprise.
