Taixing city in Jiangsu province is stepping up the transformation of its fine chemical industry into new chemicals materials and is also pushing the new materials industry towards an advanced direction of development.
One example of the transition of Taixing's chemicals producers is Taixing Meilan New Materials Co Ltd, settled in the Taixing Economic Development Zone. It's begun manufacturing perfluoroether rubber after a lengthy period of technical research and development.
All in all, Taixing's fine chemicals and new material industries are mainly concentrated in the EDZ, which has been ranked among the top 10 chemicals industrial parks in China for 11 consecutive years now.
As such, the EDZ is home to 83 fine chemicals and new materials manufacturers and has established chlor alkali and olefin industry supply chains.
The first breakthrough in the supply chain development of the EDZ was initiated by SP Chemicals (Taixing) Co Ltd, whose total market share of alcohol ester film-forming aids in China is currently estimated to be around 29 percent.
In addition, the EDZ is leveraging the innovative role of enterprises, supporting resident companies to strengthen their independent research and development and to deepen their cooperation with research institutes and universities.
At present, there are 128 enterprise R&D institutions in the zone, including two at the national level and 43 at the provincial level.
Plans are for Taixing to achieve an output value in its fine chemicals and new materials sectors topping 100 billion yuan ($13.74 billion) by 2026, with the refinement rate reaching 70 percent.
