The Taixing Economic Development Zone – located in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is working hard to become a demonstration model for the sustainable development of national chemicals industrial parks.
In the wake of 33 years of its own development, the zone has formed a modern industrial system – supported by fine chemicals, led by new materials and the pharmaceuticals and daily chemical industries and guaranteed by the modern service industries.
Besides the modern industrial system, the zone is also planning to develop six growth-oriented future industries – third-generation semiconductors, cutting-edge new materials, zero carbon negative carbon, synthetic biology, hydrogen energy and new energy storage.
In going down that path, the zone plans to fully utilize market mechanisms. Moreover, it will try to ramp up the effect of industrial funds and attract more high-precision and cutting-edge projects to settle there.
Zhu Weixiang, deputy mayor of Taixing, said that the zone would act to achieve a production value of over 150 billion yuan and 50 billion yuan, respectively in the fine chemical and new materials – as well as in the pharma and daily chemical industries – by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25). In addition, it will build a national future industry demonstration pilot zone within five to seven years.
