An advanced natural gas hydrogen blending station being funded and built by Taixing Xinao Gas Co Ltd – in Taixing city, in East China's Jiangsu province – is about to enter the acceptance stage of the project.
Based in the Taixing Economic Development Zone, the facility will mix 10 percent of hydrogen by volume with natural gas. It's estimated that this will replace 3.1 million cubic meters of natural gas and will reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 6,400 metric tons in the first year of completion.
Hydrogen, due to its non-carbonization and renewable properties, has inherent advantages and broad application prospects in future energy applications.
The technology – utilizing in-service natural gas pipelines for hydrogen blending transportation – can move hydrogen with high efficiency and low cost, achieving large-scale consumption of renewable energy and reducing carbon emissions from the natural gas utilization process.
The company says the second phase of the hydrogen blending station will start construction in April and be completed and start operating by the end of June.
