A delegation from the China Institute of Bio-fermentation and Future Food Industry, based in Taixing city, East China's Jiangsu province, recently participated in the 5th National Conference of Food Biotechnology.
Held on Oct 25-27 in East China's Shanghai, the conference explored the cutting-edge hotspots and development trends in modern food biotechnology.
It covered multiple topics, including synthetic biology, future food, food enzyme engineering and new resource food.
It also covered precision fermentation and food manufacturing, microbiology and food safety and nutrition, bioreactors and artificial intelligence and development strategies for the food biotechnology industry.
Chen Jian, academician at the Chinese Academy of Engineering, gave a detailed introduction to future food and biomanufacturing.

In line with the goal of China's future food technology, Chen said that it should have overall development advantages, shape new ways of food production and manufacture new models, processing directions and new controls systems.
The delegation members noted that they would pay attention to apply biotechnology to promote the progress of the food industry and develop food technology, thus extending the influence of the biotechnology industry in the future.
