The Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China – located in the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone, in Huangqiao ancient town in Taixing city, Jiangsu province – is growing in leaps and bounds.
Shao Ming, secretary of the Party working committee of the zone, gave the latest details on the initiative to a news conference on July 29.
The official said the Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China already had a track record of development in the food industry.
In recent years, the zone has been constructing the only future food city of its kind in the country to a high standard.
This has enabled the zone to achieve a strategic transformation from traditional rough processing of agricultural and sideline products to emerging industries, such as bio-fermentation and nutrition and health.
In particular, the zone has worked closely with institutions such as the Chinese Institute of Food Science and Technology and the China Biotech Fermentation Industry Association, in areas of information acquisition, project cooperation and policy coordination.
It has also appointed a group of experts to serve as directors of the expert committee and industry development consultants.
In addition, great efforts have been made by the zone to attract top companies. As a result, Mead Johnson (China), Bright Dairy and Hangzhou Wahaha Group among others have reached preliminary cooperation agreements with the zone.
Plans are for the zone to build up the Bio-fermentation and Future Food City of China into the most dynamic biosynthetic new food raw materials industry innovation mecca in the Yangtze River Delta region.
