The new high-rate lithium battery research, development and production plant being operated by Jiangsu Sunpower – located in the Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone in Taixing, in East China's Jiangsu province – is projected to put into operations by the end of the year.
Involving a total investment of 5.2 billion yuan ($724.97 million), the plant was listed as a major provincial project in 2022.
The project will boast five imported fully automatic intelligent production lines, mainly engaged in producing green and eco-friendly high-rate cylindrical lithium batteries.
The products will be widely used in electric vehicles, power tools and electronic products, data communications, intelligent energy storage and in other fields.
At present, the plant has completed the construction of its main structure and is undergoing internal and external decorations and equipment installations. The whole setup is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of the year.
After the plant ramps up production, it's expected to further increase the company's market share in the premium lithium battery market.
