The Taixing Huangqiao Economic Development Zone – located in Taixing, a county-level city administered by the prefecture-level city of Taizhou in East China's Jiangsu province – was founded in 2009, with a planning area of 18 square kilometers.
In 2014, the provincial government approved the establishment of the Huanggiao Industrial Park of Jiangyin High-tech Industrial Development Zone and jointly built the Shanghai Jinqiao Huangqiao Industrial Park with Shanghai Jinqiao Group in 2016.
On Sept 21, 2018, the provincial government approved the Huangqiao EDZ as a provincial economic development zone.
Due to its excellence it has been recognized as a China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Demonstration Base, a China Characteristic Industry Cluster Development Model Park, a China High-quality Investment and Business Environment Service Brand Park and a China High-quality Investment and Business Environment Innovation and Excellence Model Park.
It has also been recognized as a Jiangsu Modern Equipment Science and Technology Industrial Park, a Jiangsu Recycling Transformation Model Park, a China High-quality Investment and Business Environment Innovation and Excellence Model Park and as an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Ecological Model Park.
It signed up 41 new projects at the Taizhou level last year, with 14 worth over 1 billion yuan ($139.29 million) each and 12 worth over 500 million yuan each. Overall, the zone's newly signed projects in 2023 received a combined investment of 13 billion yuan.
Moving forwards, the Huangqiao EDZ is aiming for its industrial invoiced sales to hit 30 billion yuan ($4.48 billion) and for its industrial and commercial tax revenue to reach 3 billion yuan at the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
