Huangqiao town in Taixing city – located in East China's Jiangsu province – is making great efforts to improving the modernization of social governance, a process it's undertaken in recent years.
Hongyun Station – a municipal service station – located at local Huangqiao Dream City Square is a prime example. Equipped with a wide range of facilities including tables, chairs, refrigerators, microwaves and air conditioning, it serves as a resting place for merchants, drivers and nearby delivery staff.
There are also service people like police officers, lawyers and store managers that are in the station, working together for grassroots governance.
Some merchants, volunteers and delivery staff have volunteered to join the groups, to collect information and problems they discover about the local community.
Elsewhere in Mixiang community, a special corridor there has become a communications place connecting local government and residents. "We like to sit here and talk to community staff and we can report any problems to them anytime, anywhere," said Ding Zhengqi, a resident.
Huangqiao town has adhered to multi-layered grass roots co-governance to involve residents more and enhance people's sense of happiness and security. It has leveraged 67 mediation committees and 69 mediation studios throughout the town, to help solve key and difficult areas of grassroots social governance.
